Dog Feeders: Meet Some Types

Faced with the impossibility of spending a lot of time at home, it is necessary to know that there are fantastic devices that automatically dispense food at the desired times and quantities. There are also feeders with obstacles to prevent dogs that eat too fast from choking.
Dog Feeders: Know Some Types

Just as not all pets are the same, dog handlers must be different. That is, they need to conform to needs or habits  of each animal. In this article, we’ll talk about the different dog feeder options available in stores.

What types of dog handlers are there?

Before choosing or buying a feeder for your pet, it is very important that you know its tastes and feeding habits.

Are you one of those who gobble up food in seconds? Is it an animal that carries the feeder around? Or maybe he normally eats a little, waits and starts again?

For each of them, there is a different container, adapted to their needs or behavior. Once you know the recommended options for each type of dog, it will be easier to choose. Hence, it’s a matter of choosing a special color or design for your pet!

Keep in mind that  each of the dog handlers has its peculiarities, its benefits and its “contraindications”. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze and compare the alternatives. Some of them are:

1. Automatic feeder

Ideal  for those homeowners who don’t stay home for a long time. After all, when these owners are busy, they sometimes miss the pet’s mealtime.

It is a device with two containers. In the first one, the food is placed, but it is not suitable for wet food. The second container is where the dog eats.

The mechanism works with a clock in which the time when the food “will fall” can be programmed. You can also choose the amount of feed released.

There are even some templates that can be managed from a mobile app. This can be a good idea in many situations. For example, when we go out for the weekend and we don’t have anyone we trust to feed our dog.

2. Stainless steel or aluminum feeder

It can come in different shapes or sizes, but it is one of the ideal dog handlers. Especially when the animal is very restless at lunchtime. It is also useful to avoid that, at the end of the meal, he wants to bite the plate and play with it.

The only bad thing in this case is the weight of the container, because plastic feeders are generally quite light and easy to transport. The good news is that they  are easy to wash and last longer than plastic pans.

3. Feeder with obstacles

If every time you feed your dog you think he is the undisputed winner of the record for the sweetest animal in the world, this feeder is ideal. It’s made of plastic and, unlike the others, it has some “bumps” in the center. In this way, the food is trapped and the anxious animal has to make a greater effort to eat it.

Obstacle feeder

Of course, if you have a greedy dog, it will continue to eat a lot, but at least it will take a little longer to gobble up its kibble. The goal is to rest between bites and avoid suffocation, gastric or intestinal disturbances, vomiting, abdominal bloating, or weight gain.

4. Plastic feeders

They are the typical dishes sold in pet stores. Although there are different models, the truth is that they are not always recommended for dogs. One of the main reasons is that  the material they are made of can cause allergies in animals.

In addition, if the dog eats outside, the container can be exposed to the sun or rain. Because of this, it will end up spoiling. Insects or fungi can also appear if food remains in the bowl.

5. Feeders according to dog size

We cannot offer the same for a Chihuahua and a Mastiff. And we’re not just referring to the amount of food, but also the dish they use.

6. Feeders with height

Finally, this is a type of container for the most greedy dogs and that can be adjusted to the height of the head. This  prevents the animal from having to make a greater effort to feed and prevents the stomach from twisting.
