No Abuse! Owners Of Chained Dogs Must Be Punished By Law

No abuse! Owners of chained dogs must be punished by law.

When I moved to a country in Central America, I was shocked to see that the culture and thinking about how to own a pet was very different from Spain, my home country. Those who have a pet understand that they become part of the family, it’s a member who can walk around the house, bathe, feed and need care, so I feel bad when I see dogs in chains. .

However, where I live, animals, in this case dogs, are seen as something you have to have at home, as if they were part of the decor. There are people who as soon as they get the means to buy food for them, have several dogs at home, but there are those who do not feed them and do not let the dogs into the house, most are chained dogs who go through this.

I always wondered, is this not punishable by law? Isn’t it also a kind of mistreatment? Not to mention that they teach children to take a stick and do a thousand things with them. Unfortunately, in this country there seem to be no laws against this type of abuse, or if there are, they are not enforced.

But this type of “cloaked” mistreatment is punishable by law in hundreds of countries. Let’s look at the penalties that are applied.

Owners who practice this type of covert abuse do not understand that chained dogs suffer psychically and emotionally as well as physically.

Chained dogs can injure themselves if they want to go further away than their chain allows. On the other hand, this can cause marks and even cause the hair in the area where the collar is placed to fall out without the possibility of being born again.

A chained dog can also suffer depression, become aggressive or be immersed in a deep state of sadness that makes him not want to eat and even die.

Chained dogs will not be sociable dogs, as they will lack human warmth and that of other congeners. Dogs are very dependent and need love, affection and care.

Undoubtedly, this is a type of abuse that cannot go unpunished and must be denounced. Now how to do this?

Chained dogs? report abuse

In Spain, an organization called “Sen Cadeas” was created, which translates to “No Chains”. This organization is responsible for collecting cases of this type of abuse, taking them to court and trying, by all possible means, to win the case. Getting the animal to be released and put up for adoption by another family and the previous owner to pay for the mistreatment with prison or other means.

Complaints can be made through the Internet  in a very simple way. They only ask for your first and last name, location and a contact email. Your data will be confidential and in case of judgment will not come to light if this is your will.

You must also briefly report the facts to report, providing timely data for them to act. There is a section where you can attach photos, which is great as these are strong evidence that will help the organization and later the judges too.

“Sen Cadeas” is open to dialogue, so the first thing they try to do is send police officers or other experts against animal abuse to make the person understand that the animal suffers and, thus, that they take action to release the animal from its condition. If it doesn’t work or if the person rebels at the appeal of the agents, then a formal complaint is made that will reach the corresponding court.

The goal is to make people aware that animals are living beings with needs, and that they cannot be chained, deprived of the supply of their emotional needs and, on several occasions, physical.

Although “Sen Cadeas” must follow the laws against mistreatment of each autonomous community, luckily in Spain, in most of these communities this type of camouflaged mistreatment is punishable by law. We hope and wish that in those places in the world where these laws do not yet apply or where they do not exist, that everyone can believe that we can share the planet with our dear friends, the animals, more than we believe that we are the owners of everything.
