Whenever I think of dogs that came out of movies one particular name comes to mind, but there were many. And what name comes first to your mind?

  • Hachiko. I will never forget this dog and its moving story. Yes, I know the movie wasn’t the real thing, but that’s what cinema is about, isn’t it? Of creating in our minds a reality that is actually fictional. In any case, the dog that played Hachiko did an exceptional job.
  • Lassie. Who hasn’t spent their childhood watching this Collie dog on television? She has always been part of our lives and we will never forget her.
  • The Xmen Dog. This crazy, talkative Bulldog pulled a smile from everyone. And the scene of him coming out of the car window…. What a memory!
  • Rex. If he were a man, I would have fallen in love with him. Has anyone been able to see any defects in this beautiful German Shepherd?
  • Bethoven. How can you forget that beautiful and mischievous São Bernardo with which we spent dozens of desserts? It was one of those movies that we didn’t mind seeing very often…

And now we’re going to meet the newest aspirant to canine Oscars: the dog from the movie Truman.

The Truman Movie

This dog that is actually called Troilo, was a dog that was trained to be with autistic children, this can give us an idea of how easy it was to work with such a sensitive and special being.

We’ve already talked about why, unfortunately, this dog died a few months ago. But he left us a beautiful memory in our minds and in our hearts, and also in the hearts of all those he worked with on the film.

This film tells the story of two childhood friends who are already in their 40s, well, possibly older, who meet by chance and plan to get together to spend a season together. Truman, the dog, forms an essential part of this union, as he will be the one to develop situations, laughs and mischief that will arouse all kinds of emotions and feelings between the two friends.

The Animal Welfare award is granted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Madrid and is a relevant and important award for all those who move in the world of pets and also those who love animals.

It’s only been a month since Marta Esteban, the producer of the film Truman, was awarded this award for the story of this dog with his two friends. According to those responsible for awarding the award, “the story denotes a special sensitivity to pets, in addition to portraying in a very objective way the role that veterinarians play in their lives.”

They also stated that the film leaves no room for doubt about the benefits they can bring to those who own a pet and the importance of caring for them and giving them a space full of love, affection, stability and care.

Another aspect that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Madrid took into account is that the film Truman clearly shows the strong bond that a person can create with their animal and vice versa. Without a doubt, a whole sample of how important the presence of animals in our lives is.

We are pleased that there are people who are aware of bringing these feelings to the big screen and that there are people like those at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Madrid that are keen to reward these efforts. Sincere congratulations from the entire “My Animals” team. Bravo Martha!
